Midwifery care is unique in that it is nurturing care before, during, and after birth. Midwives are health care professionals specializing in pregnancy and physiological childbirth who develop and create a trusting relationship between themselves and their clients, which results in a confident, supported labor and birth. Licensed and Certified midwives have been trained to provide comprehensive prenatal care and education, guide labor, and birth, address complications, and care for newborns.

The midwifery model of care is based on the fact that pregnancy and birth are normal life processes, midwives do this by:
Monitoring the physical, psychological and social well-being of the birth parent throughout the childbearing year
Providing the birth parent with individualized education, counseling, and prenatal care continuous assistance during labor and delivery, and postpartum support
Minimizing technological interventions
Identifying and referring clients who require obstetrical attention
Homebirth or community birth is a fundamental and historical part of midwifery care. Some midwives provide services in the hospital but many provide and specialize in birth in the community setting. We provide comprehensive in-home midwifery care, natural childbirth classes, placenta encapsulation, and comprehensive postpartum care up to six weeks postpartum for both birth parent and baby.
What makes homebirth special is you are in your own environment, you don't have to travel in the car while in labor, you can eat or drink as you please, have the freedom to move your body in a way that is relaxing, and you can be surrounded by friends and family if that is something that is desired.
We take the time to ensure your prenatal experience is one that you will enjoy. All visits are in-home for your convenience.

The educational program at Birthingway College of Midwifery is unlike any other midwifery program around. The plant medicine series renders expertise in the different modalities of medicinal herbs to help treat discomforts of pregnancy. The extensive physical assessment and critical care skills curriculum allows graduates the ability to provide well person care to an extent, obtain blood draws, start IVs, administer oxygen and medication when needed during labor, as well as provide preconception counseling and after birth fertility and conception care.
The Maravilla Midwifery Fund was created and intended to serve the Indigenous, Latinx, and low-income communities. We want to cultivate a way for people to gain access to midwifery care through low cost or free care as well as financial assistance for student midwives.
